About Deanna 
Deanna Alford was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan.  A twin, and one of 8 siblings, Deanna has been married for over 35 years and has 3 adult children and one grandchild. She and her husband moved to Medicine Hat in 2024 and are making it their forever home.  Deanna holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Regina and taught in the Catholic education system for 5 years prior to becoming a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer. 

Deanna is passionate about supporting Catholic education and serving the community of Medicine Hat.  Deanna aims to promote academic excellence with a strong commitment to faith based education while upholding an environment where every student is welcomed, valued, and nurtured, regardless of differences.

Deanna is Committed to Excellence
Deanna Alford is a committed Catholic and experienced educator with a strong background in community service. Her qualifications include:
  • Education: Bachelor of Education with a double major in Reading and Language Arts
  • Teaching Experience: 5 years of teaching in the Catholic Education system
  • Career Background: 18 years of service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, including positions in schools and community engagement
  • Awards: Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for Community Service
  • Volunteer Experience: Extensive community volunteer work, including Meals on Wheels and St. Joseph's Home
Deanna is a lifelong learner and is prepared to bring her experience and fresh perspective to the role of Catholic School Board Trustee.

Deanna is dedicated to ensuring that faith-based values remain at the heart of education in Medicine Hat Catholic Schools. She supports the continued growth of the Board of Trustees as a Christ-centered team, committed to nurturing the development of the whole child by fostering not only academic excellence, but also the social, emotional and faith dimensions of each student's journey.

Deanna believes being a good leader starts with being a good listener, and she is committed to hearing the voices of parents, students, staff and community members while working as a trusted and collaborative teammate with the Board accountable to both the provincial government and the communities she serves.

Faithful Service

Faithful Service

Deanna believes that faithful service begins with leading by example through active participation in her parish, the schools and in the community. She currently is a lector and in the music ministry at mass, a leader in a faith based program for women, along with her husband she participates on the marriage preparation team, and she serves as the Secretary Alternate for the Catholic's Woman's League. In the community she volunteers for Meals on Wheels, is trained as a pilot for the Cycling Without Age program and volunteers at St. Joseph's by visiting residents. She is also an active member of the local Veterans Association.
